Headstock advice.... 8 string project

Post by h8mtv »

So I am wanting to build a short scale 8 string bass thing. I scored a Kramer bridge made by schaller for the project. I am considering grabbing a Bronco bass but I have a bullet strat here minus bridge. I see a few odd Japanese 25.5 scale basses out there so I may try that route first. I am guessing a good start is to fill the tuner holes with dowel rods. Any other advice getting going?

For smaller tuners you will need to trim off about 1cm from the top edge of the headstock - otherwise they won't align with the neck. You could do four-a-side like a short version of the XII headstock!

Yeah, I was even considering one of the cheap 12 string tele kits to build from. I think 4 a side is the way to go.
