Anybody watch the episode "Pay to Play"? 2 guys brought in a '54 strat(serial number 1042) that they said they got at a rummage sale. At first they wanted $40.000 but Les would only give them $12,200. They told him he could have it for $12,500 but he wouldn't budge.I don't know if the whole thing was fake but the strat looked like the real deal and it didn't come from someones collection because everybody was slinging it around like a sack of potatoes.Seth used a battery powered screwdriver to take it apart. That's a $50,000 guitar and look at how they have it dangling over a railing, lol.

I saw it. Totally fake for the same reasons you pointed out.

Did you see American Restoration this week? They bought Bo a vintage Mosrite Ventures guitar. The finish was chipped all the way around the edge. It was lovely. They took it over to Ed Romans shop and asked them how to restore it. Rick refinished the body, rechromed all the original hardware and polished everything up nice. I was a bit annoyed, because a vintage guitar isn't a broken Coke machine that needs restoration.

yeah super weird. I get it's a restoration show but a guitar is like a coin. when you shin it all up, it becomes worth less.

They're idiots. The guy with the fucked up model a is also an idiot.

Who would be caught dead on TV talking about a strat from '50 or '51? I thought everyone knew that '54 was the first year?

The way they try to insert family drama and shit into these shows is so fucking stupid. Did anybody watch to the end to see that shit where his son "pushes him out of the way of a bullet"?! What kind of pepperoni nipple fuckheads put this shit together?

The thing that blows my mind is they way they were treating this guitar. I mean, even if it is just a $10,000 partscaster,jeez...

Every time an ol' lady reaches for something in her minivan as she's driving pass me, I push every one out the way too. Seth was trying to break the ol' mans hip.

Hard Core Pawn is what you get when Jerry Springer buys a pawn shop. Only reason why I watch that show. I love to see ghetto bitches beat the shit outta their man when they try to pawn jewelry their man gave them, only to find out it was fake. Anybody catch that show where a lady tried to pawn a gold colored rope that's used to tied back curtains. "Whhat! It aint FAKE! MY MAN LOVES ME! MY MAN GOTS 2 JOBS!!".

I know its how pawn shops work, but still they didnt buy it for 15000, I think its foolish.
But seeing how they treated the guitar, Im happy knowing it will stay in that hardcase.

At late nights when I have drunk a few beers I like to watch these shows hah.. shameful confession..

I cut out the middleman and just browse for shit i could NEVER afford on ebay.

The only exception I make is for Antiques Roadshow because I love seeing the pompous old lady appraisers shoot down people's dreams of fortune and for the "pickers" type show because of the thrill of the hunt and because they always seem to come across old motorbikes and I'm unapologetically kinda homo for old rusty bikes.

Did you see when Seth took off the neck plate? Look at the thin railing the guitar is resting on,lol! It looked like some of the finish came off with with the plate and he dusted it off some more with his thumb. I bet that guitar had never been taken apart before.

Like the '59 strat on Antiques Roadshow
