It demos good so for that price it's a total no-brainer. I consider it a mini-HOG, and a really good one at that. You'll certainly be able to get some mad sounds out of it.
As I said, total no-brainer. Would definetly get one if the online shop matches that price. In Sweden, the American Dollar's worth nothing, so it would end up being something like 60 quid. Which roughly is the same as a new console game here.
When I first saw this I did a quick google...looks like we're not the only forum that knows about this, and several people already tried and failed. I guess there's some law about advertised prices being only an offer that the store can either choose to accept or deny. Most stores will honor a printed ad to keep customers happy, but I guess not in this case.

Well damn it. They should honor it anyway. MF states that they honor any verifiable advertised price, and as far as I can see, this advert has been verified considering most other people have already seen it. I understand if it was a mistake on an email or the website, but this is something that was widespread and unchecked before they decided to print and mail all those catalogs. They can't just take that back like a kid that rewrites the rules for a game to make sure they win. It is concrete evidence that one can hold in their hands, evidence showing an advertised price, with the correct item number as well. It's not like an email where they can just send another email correcting themselves.
Damn. Fuck Musician's Friend (for now).

If you're thinking of trying to get it I would do it soon before the next ad comes out. I'm sure those kind of decisions are made on a case by case basis, the kind where the loudest complaint gets you the prize.
I quoted California Business & Professions Code section 17200 and Civil Code section 1750, both of which make clear what they are doing is illegal and subjects them to a class action suit. They offered me a free patch cable and the pedal for $212.

Wow, seriously? That's a bit cunty.

The phone rep was nice and apologetic but would not budge, I told her Merry Christmas and that I was sorry she was working that day. But, she went to her manager and then quoted some language from the catalog that says they are not liable for printing errors. I would make a big deal about it (and what they did does violate the law until they publish a retraction or whatever) but it was fucking 4 pm on christmas eve so I decided to just let it go.
Damnitt! I would have got one in a heart beat. My wife got me the deal of the day on the tech 21 double drive 3x mod and it was stupid cheap. I think she said it was regular 179 and on the deal of the day for 90 or 99. She got it for me for christmas because she knows that tech 21 is something that i would like no matter which one. I checked today and its back to 179.

It's not a price match issue if you are trying to get the deal from Musician's Friend, because the advertised price is in a Musician's Friend catalog. I'm not sure they can unilaterally put a clause in the catalog that allows them to decide not to honor the advertised prices, though. The more pressure you try to exert, however, the more likely they will not relent, because they know that it will open the floodgates. What I thought was really interesting when I called them, though, was that they told me this catalog went out to the printer more than six months ago, and came back two months before it was mailed out. That meant that they had two months to fucking check to make sure that it was correct, after they already were supposed to check to make sure it was correct before it went to the printer. And they didn't. Fuck those fuckers.
