Looking to buy one of these. Anyone got xperience with both? Which has the better modelling software? I know you can use either with the other.

I've got the Ampkit interface and free basic app. Overally, very pleased with it; it doesn't suffer from any of the feedback/interference issues the passive systems like iRig seem to be notorious for.

i use an irig and I'm happy with it as a practice device, the free app is good but the paid for app has a lot more going for it like guitar rig which it is based on. I can also use it with garageband on the ipad/phone and some other audio software. The only issue I have had is interference from the dimmer lights at home

i use irig with garageband. i have free amplitube but its a little too basic. sometimes takes a bit of time to read the device in garageband though which is annoying. and yes, always lots of interference and stuff with high gain stuff. ampkit sounds interesting then hmmm....

I thiiiiiiiink I've used both but preferred the Ampkit app because it had a better basic amp that got cleaner settings; the amps on the free iRig app are a JCM800-style and a Twin-style, neither quite doing it for me.

Want me to knock up a teeny little comparison video/audio? I'm off work today and fancy having a tinker aboot.

I use iRig stomp and Amplitube live at my Church gig. Works great and sounds pretty good.

lmao at the valveking being a rock institution and a classic combination of passion and power. i imagine noobs seeing that and jumping for joy at how cheap and readily available they are.

demos for the ikit sounds amazing. the valveking settings sounded really responsive. definitely better than the garageband and amplitube apps. i might very well get it.

Yeah, it's really decent- I love how the clean responds with a bit of grit when you dig in or have high-output pickups, much like my beloved Marshall. Similar voicing too.

There is a TINY amount of a latency (like a few milliseconds), even with the anti-feedback measures turned off, but not enough to be off-putting or anything.

I love the option of being able to pick up 'pedals' for like 2 or 3 quid, or 'amps' for 3 or 4 quid.. bass amps an' all. I love living in the future.
