What velcro do you guys use on your boards? the cheap ebay stuff has weak glue, it cant handle the pedals weight...

I've been buying velcro in fabric stores. The stuff I've seen seems to be good quality, plus it comes on separate bulk rolls of hook side and loop side, so you can buy exactly as much of each as you need. It was cheaper than eBay too.

I gave up on velco-type sticky things almost 10 years ago, and it's been 3M Dual Lock ever since for both pedals and board.
Sticks really hard from superior adhesive, and unlocks with a little effort from either your car key or a pocket knife. Just make sure the original surfaces are cleaned and oil-free prior to applying and you'll be fine.

Any Velcro is usually okay but I think the key is to use superglue or some other strong glue to put the strips in place

I swap pedals around too much to start velcroing stuff, it'd do my head in.
Anyway, what i'm trying to say is... CARPET YR BOARD instead.

I've always used regular inch wide velcro from ebay, works well for me although surfaces need to be clean and you may need to remove any labels on the pedal. What is it you're trying to velcro?

I ordered a roll of the branded heavy duty 50mm wide stuff and it's great. The glue used on the backing is easily strong enough - if you stick it to, say, the sticker on the pedal's underside the sticker is likely to come off before the Velcro does. You don't need to cover the entire surface with it either.

I really want to do this instead of getting a pedal board.

The stuff that come with Pedaltrains is solid - 2 inch wide.

This stuff from Johnnyshredfreak is pretty strong, it holds my DD20 to my pedal board with just one strip down each side of the pedal - the DD20 is fairly heavy for a pedal too.

Years of hanging shows with velcro, only to come bqck in the next morning to find artwork on the floor has taught me that there's velcro and there's velcro. I use the stuff from Lion Picture Framing. £20 for 20m (they do smaller amounts for less, I think), remember you'll need a roll of hook and a roll of loop. I nick it from work, obviously.

This stuff is by far and away the best velcro I've used for my pedals. I can pick up my whole board by grabbing one pedal and it will not budge. My pedalboard weighs a bloody tonne, too!

Or just get the metal sides and plop it down around your pedals (like I thouhht Sean had done here at first): instant pedalboard at a fraction of the weight and cost!

Smart smart smart smart smart.
You could get some really fancy looking pedalboards that way, by using like, a gilded picture frame or something.
