DL4 burnt out/Loopers

Post by Rushkoff »

At long last my DL4 has bit the dust. From the smell and the fact that no lights will come back on, I can only assume the PCB has fried.

I'm basically in the market to buy another looper pedal. Suggestions? I really do love the DL4's reverse features but I'm open to trying something new. Does anyone know where I could get my DL4 potentially repaired other than Line 6's repair workshops?

The M9's Mickey Mouse looper is no replacement for a DL4, more like a multiFX's stab at an Akai Headrush, and to that end at the price an M9 goes for you'd be better off with a Headrush if all you need is a basic looper/don't dick about with MIDI.
I'd look at a Boss RC-2/RC-20/RC-30 or Digitech Jamman to replace the DL4 and it's myriad of features, though I've read that the Jam mans also suffer reliability woes.

Just what I was going to say; if nothing else, he might take the enclosure off your hands.

I've got an RC20XL and I can vouch for it. Long loop time (15 mins or something) plenty of slots, reverse, loop quantize, undo function, separate mic input... basically tonnes of features and the only reliability problem I've had is a battery leak cos I forgot to remove them before plugging in (do, my fault).

Edit: also love the feature where you press one of the buttons in and then it waits for you to start playing to trigger the loop recording.

Drasp is definitely your man. He sold me my upgraded switches, LEDS and Expression knob. At the very least, he might buy the old one off you.

I've got Benmurray85's DL-4 and a Drasp modding kit in the post.

Another vote for Drasp!

I've been looking for a looper for a while and an absolute must have for what I want to do is MIDI clock sync. Now, having spent much time on eBay marvelling at the price of RC-50's and 2880's this article pointed me in the direction of the Korg Kaoss Pad 3.

Anyone got any thoughts on this as an idea?
