US Custom Shop Mustang TEH CHAR!

Post by murdok »

So the US Custom Shop is now making mustangs. Whilst the specs on this one aren't my cup of tea (all white pups, awful color) it means that hopefully the US will start churning out more mustangs someday.

Char is awesome

And I don't mind the schemes on these at all, they're a mere pair of black robroes/switches away from greatness. The colours themselves are awesome, especially with the matching stocks and plastic buttons. I LOVE the hue of the greenish/blue one and the funky inlays.

As usual, I hate the fact they have 9.5" radius though. At this rate I'll have to have the t-shirt printed soon and you won't have to hear me say it again, though.

What's with the offset 3rd fret marker!?

I don't see anything special about these at all. 'Custom' switching? Wow.

I wander how much they'll try and charge for one of these. I bet it's too much.

The 5th fret inlay is offset too, the 3rd and 5th inlays are crescent moons if you look closely.

The moon thing is fine but it looks silly only being on two frets when the rest are standard dots.

I love the lunar inlays. If I ever had a custom neck made, I'd steal the Luna guitars moon phase inlays.

According to the spec sheet thing, £2950/£3100 (not sure why there are two prices!). So yeah, too much, they do look great though.

My thoughts exactly. I don't even mind the white covers/switches. These things, other than 9.5, are awesome.

I have to say, I think the teal-colored one is attractive. I personally prefer the pickups and switch colors to contrast the pickguard, but whatever.

But close to $5k is pretty darned rich for a Mustang. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't sell so much as a single one of these here in the USA. I can get a 60s Mustang's original parts, electronics & body that needs to be refinished, a 24" 9.5 neck, and get done pretty much whatever I wanted to do to it, for a lot less $$.

Anybody know what "Custom “Free Spirits Switching" is?
