Got it yesterday, out of the box it sucked, but after I set it up to how I like my guitars, it has become a pretty great guitar, not use to the wider nut width, but after just a minute or so I get use to it. I'm not a fan of the pickups in it though, I really love the original ones in my squier more. The fender ones are a little too hot for my taste. Still have the original strings on it, but don't mind them, I usually use 11's though, but when I do change the strings I wanna check under the pickguard and see what the routing looks like, so maybe I could possibly put the original squier pickguard from my black one on it and put some new pickups in it, don't like how the humbuckers have 2 screws on one side and 1 on the other. But other wise I'm really digging this guitar.

Cool!

So wait, did they really make a FENDER with a SQUIER neckplate? Or did you change that yourself?

re purposing old stock maybe? or perhaps they didn't want to make a new mold. either way it's kind of charming homage. Looks like a cool guitar, dat orange sprakle. if you had to chose the squier over the fender, which would you pick?

I wasn't hating....I agree it kind of adds sentiment....

However, it makes me wonder Fender just found a box of old Supersonic neck plates in the Japanese factory and that's what prompted this reissue....

Yeah, that's why I brought up those questions. Same thing went through my mind about the possibility of boxes of old stock of parts. I don't think it's uncommon, as I've heard that it may have prompted some designs, to use up old parts. I didn't think you were hatin' on it. I'm sure fender wouldn't say "we're releasing a guitar because we have boxes of old parts for it" but I'm gonna think it because it's a pretty funny thought.

So, big neck, eh? Passable?
The neck plate looks like it is not recessed into the body like the Squiers, am I correct?
Is it heavy?
In what ways does it feel different than the originals? Anything better?

Think away. That's why the Swinger exists, after all.

I dig the orange sparkle, but Fender lost me with the wider nut width. Guess I'll just go on rocking the original.

I have pretty small hands so I think I would still pick the Squier over the Fender, but I've only had it for about 2 days now, so still feeling it out. But I'm digging it, the neck feels great to me, Switching back and forth between the Squier and Fender, it doesn't take to long for me to get use to the fender one, but I'm more use to thinner nuts, My Bronco and Jag-stang have 40mm necks, I do prefer, but after I set it up, it is a solid guitar, just don't like the pickups that much.

I like the alder body, but yeah, the neck is totally diffrent then the original, the neck is a bit thicker besides the wider nut. But it is still pretty light, it feels like it maybe about 2 to 2 1/2 pounds more in weight then my squier one. And yes the neck plate on the fender ones are not recessed, but it still has the round heal I love from the original.

Improvements: Alder Body, Orange sprackle.

Cons: stupid nut width, can't be arsed to recess neck plate, use squier neck plate, pickups not as good sounding as squier.

Sheesh Fender really know how to half-arse a product better than anyone. It looks great in everyway but those specs are a total turn off for me. Glad you're digging it though!
