Got this for a good deal, deciding whether or not to flip it on eBay as I need money. Tone pot doesn't work, bridge is a little wonky, but I got it set up pretty well. Doesn't have the elusive trem arm, but is overall in pretty good nick. TEH KURTZ! Cool guitar.

As I got it:

Nice !! I think I found a strat trem arm to fit ok when I had one of those bridges on my custom made 'Motorik'. Don't think the arm threads locked in properly all the way but was going to chop it down, because it went in most of the way just fine. Never got to that far though before I sold it on. You're also missing the ashtray cover too...

Feels really close to a Jag trem actually, really nice !!

Who owns the loom btw ? Looks like my mothers workshop, she's a trained weever.

^ It is my mom's loom. I want that Motorik! How did the trem work for you when you had it?

I just re-read and edited at the last moment, probably about the same time you posted and added this ^^ It looks somewhat crude but worked really the rubbery saddles, and basic height adjustments were spot on. I liked it... I would say keep it, the guitar is bound to only go up in value...

I remember workoffire taking the better (chrome !!) trem off this before selling it as they're really hard to get hold of, he also kept the arm also... but discounted the guitar by a lot... that ended up on the Motorik II he built.

The guitar was jinxed on me... I experienced a few problems, nothing of Ben's wrong doing... just a few things that had gone astray from unfortunate circumstances and I tried to fix and went pear shaped. Earthing issue / Truss rod rattle at certain freqs / Crack in top horn from fitting strap lock button. Bound to have these on what is essentially prototype... Was a cool guitar and the man has some serious skills... but I always reverted to my Jag as I always do.... hahaa. He's on the 3rd version now.

He's doing a video diary of it... CHECK IT OUT

If I ever get a guitar custom built I'll be asking him !!

Sorry to divert from original post.

Looks like a Hagström, or maybe it's the other way around.

Excellent find! I love these guitars, but it's a shame that they fetch slightly high prices for 'Teh KURTZ' connection. They're undeniably sexy (even in scumburst) and are probably decent guitars, but I doubt they're anything amazing. Looks like the same string jumping, POS plastic bridge bullshit that came stock in my Hi Flyer.

Question: Do you think all those Matsumoku guitars with their weird trems/tailpieces have interchangeable trem arms (at least threading-wise)?

I've been dying to get an arm for my Hi Flyer, nothing seems to fit, and I'm sick of making $15 dollar gambles on something useless. Import Jag/Jazz trems are too thick, despite what Univox.org suggests.

I got a thin MIJ Strat Arm (Maybe 5mm? I don't remember) to screw right in. It stuck out a fair bit, but it worked

Digging it, a lot. If it sounds good don't flip it. Jobs are good.
