Are the bodies for Duosonic, Musicmaster, and Mustang the same, but with differing hardware and pickguards? I'm wondering about converting a Duosonic reissue body into a Mustang.

For the most part, yes. There are little differences between each one like body thickness, the waist, etc. For example, I don't think the reissue has an offset waist.

all of them have offset waists. the body thicknesses are (afaik) 1.5"

your main problem is gong to be routs. you will need to rout out bridge post and trem cavities as well as the switching, and to get the angled bridge pickup, probably that rout as well.

I don't think the duo reissues are offset waist (or very subtly if they are) - both the CV and mim are based on the original models, so not the same body as a mustang. The duo ii and mm ii from the sixties do have the same body as the mustang. You could route a CV/mim duo for mustang bridge/trem but the pickguards won't swap because the curves aren't the same.

Yeah that's right, I have my old MIM Duo sitting in bits cos I need to get a new guard made for it. I have a couple of different Mustang ones in my parts bin and although they are both slightly different neither of them fit on the Duo cos it's a totally different shape as mentioned before. I need to get a tracing off someone.

Mid/Late 70's Mustang upper horn were slightly differ from the 60's model. I've laid a MIM Duo 22.7" scale body over a 60's and 70's model Mustang and it was way off.

Classic Vibe Duo-Sonic isnt the same body as a Mustang, it has a fatter ass.
But my new rule is, I'll never own a guitar without a comfort contour.
THUS: the Super-Sonic is gonna be my newest concubine.

So anyway, on topic, the CV Duo-Sonic has a better body than Squier Mustang, since the squier lacks the comfort contour.

Thanks for all the replies. I've been toying with the idea of doing a Mustang conversion, but it sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth. Anyway, a good learning experience for me. I owned a new 1970 Mustang for a few months and a Bronco for a short time in the eighties, but my memory is fuzzy on the details of the guitars. The more time I spend on this forum, the more my curiosity is piqued on the vintage Mustangs.
