In a moment of madness I recently got me self a Jackson JS30 super strat, just got round to sorting it out setup and whot not. I think this guy has found the easiest way of setting a Floyd rose up works like a dream no more hours of tweaking...

i used to be able to pull off a floyd setup in under 30 mins, intonation action and trem setup. i found that a bottle cap, and maybe a qtr or two would fit nicely in the trem cavity and put it at the "zero" setting, then i'd set up the guitar string by string(easier for intonetion purposes) then when all the strings are on and action is set, ajust the neck. then revove thebottle cap and ajust the screw tension till its in tune, and presto. its done.
there is one fellow on here that would take all afternoon to set up a floyd. and while its a good way to kill time, its completely stupid to take that long.

i shan't. im going to put anyone out on front street. but there are folks around here that haven't the slightest idea on how to ajust the truss rod. and then there are folks that could start thier own company but don't.
and then there is robroe, who just don't give a FUCK!

Technically speaking, if you dont change string gauge or tuning, once you set up a Floyd it should never need setting up again. Trick is to change one string at a time and tune up/stretch in with the fine tuners set at half way.

and your right. once its done. its done. i setup an ibanez zero resistence trem like my 2nd or 3rd day out and it took me about 45 mins. i think alot of it was sifting thru and trying to find allens that weren't modified for this thing or the next. and then th fact that to ajust the saddle you have to use the screw under the string is a pain in the arse sometimes.
i kinda wish the floyd rose setup would GET TAH FUK and the stienberger setup was te norm for floating systems. i have only ever encountered one and it was stock on a gibson sg. it was fuking sweet!

Floyd ain't too bad. Other than the locking nuts and shit, it's not that much harder than setting up a Strat. Always wondered why the rep was so bad on them. And really you can avert a lot of the suckiness by stringing backwards.

Plus, as mentioned, once set up, it stays. I understand this site tends to have a lot of people who love old-fashioned things but considering how many people bash the Floyd for being impossible to set up, and then you have shitloads of Bigsby lovers who probably don't have three hands and dread the prospect of having to set one up without a capo.

I love Floyds.

I've always just set them up as I would a floating strat trem (it's the same basic principle), then once I was sure everything was stretched, clamp it down and use the micro tuners if needed (probably not).

I was having a bit of grief trying to set it up as the last time I had a locking trem it was on a Yamaha SG and it was setup perfectly when I got it so all I ever did was restring it... the setup on this was all over the shop so it was a learning experience, the video I posted makes it easy so props to the man...
