Well, so I bought it off of forumite wetbelly here, and it arrived today. Got it set up and spent some time getting used to it.

First, some pics:
So, I'm still debating on some things here. The orange is growing on me, I'm actually liking it, I may just go and give the body a few more clear coats then sand it back to flat and polish it. Though, I have also been considering going and getting an orange metallic paint and redoing it in that.

The paint on the headstock is tough. I sort of like it, but am leaning more towards stripping that off and restoring the previous decal and clear coat under it. The figuring on this particular neck is really neat and I do like plain headstocks myself. I'm still deciding on that part.

It came stock with a SD Hot Rails in the bridge spot. I'm again iffy about that part, it's not bad sounding at all, but it is very different from what I'm used to. This body has full humbucker routes already so I'm tempted to get a fresh pickguard made without switches and with just a bridge bucker like my Musicmaster is set up, but then again I like the sound of that Hot Rails pup. Sounds much better than that shit Ibanez put into the Omar.

The bridge setup is nice, I did have to drop out one of the shims to get it lower to the body to deal with the lower tuning I use, with all of the shims in there it was buzzing. Though, I'm really not a fan of using shims, they make the neck feel "loose" to the body when I swing it around. I'm considering going full out and grinding off the bottomside of the TOM here instead, so then I could do my own adjustments without having to take the damn neck off.

I was surprised at how light this guitar is, I just worked on a friend's MIJ 65 RI Mustang and just like all of them that I've held, they are fairly heavy compared to my Musicmaster. This one here is only a slight bit heavier than the MM. This made me very happy.

I really never thought I'd own a real Mustang, after building my Musicmaster I was satisfied as it didn't have the things I disliked about the Mustang. This one already has all of the mods I would have done to one already, so it's kinda neat to finally own one of these.

I wasn't expecting to buy yet another guitar this month but sometimes shit just comes up and you can't pass up a deal. I'm pretty happy with what I got here. And that mustard yellow-ish orange color is pretty awesome in person.

Brilliant. I am totally with you on the paint - I like the comp orange and would keep it, but I have never been a fan of painted headstocks.

persnlly i like painted headstocks and he fact that its orange.... it def does something for me. but its not my guitar, so it doesn't matter what i think now does it?
i would totally agree with you on the filing the TOM down rather than shimming the neck. it may be worth cutting a new guard for a bucker, and then the next time you change strings you could file the tom, put a newguard and bucker in it. and rock that out for a while to see how you like it.

Anyone have a link to a site detailing what to grind off on the TOM?

orange is definitely my favorite color for comp stangs, you lucky, lucky bastard!

whenive done it in the past i just put it up to my sander, but i know i have used a vice and a good rasp/file before. it took HOURS!
advice, get a six of good beer, put on some good music, and start filing.

I have a belt sander, I could just strap that down to my little bench and just hold it to the belt for a while. I was just unsure if there was something special one had to do or only grind off certain spots of it.

Yeah, I'm going to keep the color. I will eventually do some final finishing on it, it's really not that he did a bad job, just looks like it was rushed a bit to get it going. It just needs some flat sanding and then a polish, which again I acquired a proper buffer so I can do it up right.

I'm going to leave the painted headstock for now. It's not my favorite thing but it's not bad either.

I might have a lead on some humbuckers that I could try out in this thing. For now I'm going to just leave it as is and see how I get along with the Hot Rail.

I also need to recess the switches. I hate those damn switches so much.

Glad you like it, I used to be grossed out by the Comp Orange finishes a decade ago, and then year by year, it started growing on me. Enough so that I eventually built this thing mostly to give it a Comp finish. Have fun with it! BTW, looks great in the family photo.

I was expecting the finish to be a lot worse given how you described it in the classified post. It's really not bad at all, just needs a bit more time put into it to make it perfect. You did a good job with this thing.

Thanks! I did kind of get impatient toward the end of the finish work and just rushed it along. As far as describing it went, I just didn't want to misrepresent it, especially my first sale here. I'm pretty picky about stuff myself, so I didn't want to sell it as mint condition when I know the finish had imperfections.

Both my kids turned out left handed and it kind of freaks me out.
