Ok, so i've always wanted a vintage guitar but prices have always been outta my reach...until now!!!
I came into a bit of money and that was the catalyst that i needed....
For about a week i've been scouring ebay UK and USA for deals, but drew a blank due to em being outta my price range..even considered importing a body and neck from USA, but after postage and the dreaded import & tax it wasnt such a good deal..
I was made up for GreenKnee and his lovely MusicMaster, and to my astonishment another like his came up on Ebay, and within easy local collection for me...
I won!...

The neck is bloody marvelous...the perfect size for my hands, and the single pick up rawks..the tone you get out of it is crazy loud! I tend to strum near the neck pickup anyway, so its win win for me...
Shes in good nick, couple of dings, scrapes and scratches as you'd expect, and appears to be all original..paint looks a bit orange peely in places, so may've had a refin at some point, but as you can guess i'm ultra happy with it!
Now i understand what all the fuss is about!!

Looks like my Music Master! Congrats! They are nice guitars. Very straightforward, but in a good way. Everything you need to rock out.

Looks like we've got twins! Congrats man, didn't take you long haha.

How's the stock pickup in yours sound? I've been thinking about getting an antiquity pickup of some sort for mine, as I can't really get used to the humbucker sound of mine. When it's tapped it sounds much nicer, so I'm guessing a proper single coil will top it off just nicely.

Thanks all! It's great to share good news and fortune, and I see it as another rescued shortscale to the more appreciative club!
I had never played a mm till I collected yesterday afternoon, and had all sorts going thru my head as you do when you buy without properly seeing/trying..and I'd already PayPal'd the guy so it was mine regardless..

The first thing I did was to check the neck out...blimey! Smooth as silk, no cracks or laquer break off..."Oohh the necks smooth", I chanted!.
And I had fears of baseball-bat proportions, but my grasp slipped round like it was made for me..that iced the cake!
The seller couldn't justify the amount of guitars he already had, and so I guess the Black Sheep or the runt of the litter had to go!

GreenKnee, thanks for making me envious in the first place and wanting one.. :oops: I am amazed at how loud, clear, and Toney the stock pickup is! I've replaced the stock squier pups in my cv duo with hotrails, and they've brought it to life, but this stock pup is brill...
It only reads about 5.56 ohms, but just through using the vol and tone you can get bridge sounds easily..and its so so clean! I strum near the neck anyway, so its more beneficial to me...
So I'd recommend putting a stock vintage Fender pup back in there..if it ain't broken, don't fix it!! Mojo by the pup load..
Like HNB said, they're straightforward guitars...the vintage fender quality is there, but without any bullshit...

Just managed to get myself a '74 MM pickup off eBay, looking forward to trying it out!

I thought it was the brass saddles on mine that made it so loud unplugged, but maybe not of yours is loud too.

Nice one pal, hope the 74 sounds as nice as mine does!..Well I guess the brass saddles will make it sound brighter anyway, but you won't know till you have a go...

Thanks! I got in at the last minute, after bidding before and going over my reserve a little..held my breath for ages..but at a sub £400 price I thought I'd go for it...

I am a fan of the stock pickup as well. Play at the neck and it is warm and clear; move to strum at the bridge area and it twangs up. Helped me learn to better pay attention to where I strum.
