OK, I've got two more to report. I completely rebuilt my black one and bought a second white one that I am leaving stock.

Close up of the new torted black one:

Mods: Two covered Dimarzio humbuckers (from my older white one from before I "JR"ed it), placed inside SD Triple Shot humbucker rings, volume, tone, original SS knobs, three-way, momentary kill button, hardtailed with a cut-off-style Wilkinson tele bridge. Get this: 24 different tone settings.

And a shot of all six:

Wow, I would like to see is the whole Jaguar control set on a Super-Sonic. Or maybe the control set of the Mustang Special.

That collection is so awesome.

I am a fan of the Triple Shot rings on the black one. My silver one has P-Rails, and I am going to re-do it next with Triple Shots and the same control layout. What am I missing with a Jaguar set-up? I like chrome plates.
It just occurred to me that I should be able to have the volume as a master volume and the tone be just for the neck pickup. Hmmm.

I made second pickguard that fits the black one. Well, I fitted the pickups and knobs and such to one Joey made for me.

Silver one re-worked.

Hardtailed with a cut-off tele bridge, P-Rails pickups (bridge is the newer hot model) with Triple Shot mounting rings (24 tones with 3-Way), Volume, Tone, momentary kill button. And a black pickguard.

One of the coolest guitar collections I have seen.

I am about to get my first Squier Supersonic from Pens so I am super stoked.

Any plans to get a Fender one for the collection?

I would love to build one of these with a Bronco Trem and maybe 1.5" body.

Thanks. That's only six of twenty, too.
I have played a new one and it is pretty cool, but not the same beast. Neck is very different (good, but different). You can still buy the MIJ Squiers for way less than the new MIM ones, so I'd rather have the ones I prefer for less money. However, if they fail miserably and are half price soon, I will pick up an orange one.

What was the original bodywood on the Squier Super-sonics?

The SS I am getting is black, which was my least favorite color of the original colors offered. I love that stock white one you just picked up.

I always like them from Blue Sparkle, Alpine White, Silver Sparkle, and Black last.

Originals are basswood.
I like my new stock white one, too. I think I'll leave it that way.
White has been hardest for me to find. Then black, then silver, then blue. Lots of blues and silvers.
I like my coral one.

man, that looks really sharp. i'd probably go with a B/W/B guard to accent the shape of it, but it still looks great. love those pickups on it.

EDIT: do you have an angle shot of it with that guard?

wait - you have twenty of these things?(!?!)

Sideshot:

And I don't have twenty Super-Sonics, just twenty guitars. Here are nineteen of them. #20 is at work (a Fiesta Red Squier VM Jaguar).

Look at that Dick Dale model - still has the ol' tagger on it.

thanks for the side shot, that thing looks great. i think it's the first SS that's got me really excited for some reason.

what's the button for? a momentary kill switch?

if you read the description of mods, yes its a kill switch.

i really really really like your collection, very classy. whats the backstory with that tele=guar?

Tele-guar:
It is an Xavier JT-90 that has been modified with a Squier VM tele thinline neck (which is a 24.75" conversion neck), a black pickguard with no neck pickup, a Duncan Designed tele bridge pickup, and a momentary kill button (no volume, tone, or switch). It is getting Wilkinson tuners this week. The body is smaller than a real Jaguar one. Very comfortable and light, and Gibson scale. And definitely looks sharp.
