My trace elliot Vellocette went kaput again so I needed an amp to take to jazz orchestra.

The bass player was selling one of these:

Paid £50. Dont know if thats good or bad as I know nothing about them. Going to do a quick google to find a little bit more out but I can say that I like the look of the front panel with the italic writing.

Other than to see if it worked, I havent had chance to properly try it out so I cant say anything of the sound. Just thought I would share it.

I don't know a thing about it other than even if it's only as good as the MG series £50 is a good deal.

I think we had the 20 watt version of this at my school as a practice amp. From what I remember, it didn't even half as good as a MG, but as a fairly massive caveat, we were 15, knew dick all about EQ or how a band mix works and were trying to get one to keep up with a drummer in a tiny, weirdly shaped practice room.

I've always found Marshall SS stuff fairly solid, they always have a fairly decent clean sound that is relatively pedal friendly.

I had the same amp, it's really good for the money... nicer than an MG for sure !

I paid about £70 I think... and eventually sold it for £100. I compared it with my Classic 30. Not on par... but there wasn't much in it really. Sounded thinner and more sterile but to be expected... but a ton lighter !! The knobs were crackling but sorted that with some contact cleaner, and the gain knob seemed to be a bit severe volume wise towards the higher regions, but probably just the taper of the pot. Great amp, wish I hadn't sold it...

I still have the 100 watt version as a matter of fact... which was my first 'proper' amp. Kept it for sentimental reasons. It lives at my parents home.

Here's a really old video of me playing it.

Here's my old uninformative thread about the one like yours, didn't really develop.

http://www.shortscale.org/forum/viewtop ... light=5010

I paid £ 55.50 + £20.00 p&p.

No one seems to get very excited about them like I do. Made in their masses I assume

What speaker does your have ? There were a few different variations...

It was me who asked :) Thought so, the later generation has those and also the Headphone/line out input and the horizontal high / low jack placement.

The early ones don't and have a more generic speaker green (?) speaker, can't remember exactly which. You def have the better variant I would say... the speaker wasn't much cop in mine I didn't think.

LMK if you get bored with it, might buy it off ya :)
