I didn't get this. I had bought and paid for it but there was a problem. When I bought the bass the seller told me it was an Ibanez. What he didn't tell me was that the trussrod cover is not original. Chuck at Ibanez Collectors World, the guy who wrote this article about vintage Ibanez guitars
(Link) told me that it probably is an Ibanez but it is not 100% sure.Without the original TRC it is worth less than what I paid for the bass and if it's not an Ibanez it is worth much less. That is why I decided not to buy it.
Anyway, now I know the Number 1 rule when buying a vintage Ibanez:

i totally thought it was a legit ricky. damn, had me fooled, altho when i first saw the pic it was on my phone so the picture was as big as my thumbnail.
there was a fellow in c-ville who purchased a 73 fireglow rick for like 500 bucks straight up. played it for about 3 years and then sold it for a lil over 3 grand so he could buy a motorcycle, he then wrecked the bike, broke his wrist and regrets it all.
anywho.
if its not an ibanez. then what pray tell do you think it may have been?
i have seen a hofner that was a really good copy of a rickenbacker but the electronics and hardware were absolute garbage.

uh, it's a bolt-on neck. with the common matsumoku style "made in japan" neck plate.

Loev bolt-ons. If it's not a real rickenbacker, what the fuck does it matter anyway?

yeah wasn't saying anything about boltons was just pointing out to roberto original that that made it quite apparently not a real rick.

I paid $900 for the one I bought(but cancelled). Here is the listing. It's a '76. You can see the seller said all the hardware is original
The guys at the Ibanez forum said going by the serial number it probably IS an Ibanez.Still the seller should have said that the TRC has been replaced in the ad.

This is another Rick 4001 copy on ebay.Current bid is $900. It's an earlier model, not as accurate as the '76.Compare the pickups and knobs. It does have full sized "crushed pearl" inlays which the '76 doesn't have. The earlier (pre-75) ones don't have a serial number so it is impossible to determine the brand without a TRC.
I surprised that Rickenbacker legal let this one get by.
