Gibson thread. Guess what I'm going to say.

So Gibson released this and I had a nice, close look at it in the shop today.
It has ceramic pickups, cheapo Fender amp knobs, no proper binding, a shitty sunburst.. about the only thing it got "right" in my opinion is the lack of scratchplate.
I love it. Don't know why. It's like I finally found a Les Paul I like. I like nothing about the individual components but altogether I really like it.

I like the design/concept of an LP and would be perfectly happy with a plain 'burst or black, but the quality of the finish and build of Gibsons these days never makes the price tags justifiable to me.
I guess there's not a lot of cosmetic stuff for them to balls up on this one, so it's probably really nice...and more affordable. I quite like the 'minimalist' approach they've taken with it actually.

Dirty Fingers pickups. Just awful.
I do however love the new Natural Burst SG...
Looks and feels great.

I think Gibson has finally gone back to using rosewood for fretboards. I bought an SG a few months ago and it's definitely not baked maple anyway.
But I don't know what Gibson's deal is with releasing all these cheap-o LPs and SGs. Epiphone standards are nicer guitars. I guess people must enjoy paying too much just to get the Gibson name.

does it have that ridiculous tuning system on the headstock? I've been seeing that on a lot of the newer Gibsons and it's fucking ridiculous.

Apparently it's an option.
If you want to turn a £600 guitar into a £1000 one, probs.

£600
considering what you can get for that money...

The Tuning option is another £150, as is the gold paint now...
