how do you wire a 3 DPDT switch into a wah?

Post by Progrockabuse »

i'm getting round to putting a better switch in my wah as i want to sell it. i have a 3 DPDT hanging around and was going to use it.

the instructions online all mention about converting it to true bypass. i cant be arse to do that as i don't think it'll make that much difference for me.

how to i wire it so i can just use the switch and not mess with true bypass mods?

it's a Vox V847, can get gut shots if needed.

You need to use only three of the nine tags - say 1, 2 &3

Is it like this?

White wire (pedal out) goes to the middle. Blue (wah out) and green (pedal in) go to the other two.

That is bang on. So any 3 tags will be fine? I don't need to bridge anything?

Any 3 in a column e.g. 1, 2 and 3.
2 to the white wire (output socket), 1 & 3 to the other two wires

You only need a DPDT switch to do true bypass in this since you're not using a status LED.

Rob stated that
1. He does not want to do true bypass.
2. He wants to use an existing 3PDT switch

Sonds kool. However I'm not a big blue 3PDT fan. Unless the Carling-alike switch in your wah is borken already, it's better than a 3PDT.
