Being a fickle idiot... after watching the Nile Rodgers documentary on BBC 4 I feel I now need a plexiglass / acrylic Strat has any one had any experience with plexiglass guitars?

The only plexi guitars I have played have been super cheap and played like crap. Always wanted an ampeg.

How the Strat compare to It's wooden counterpart?

They are really nice. But extremely heavy. I played one at a GC and it was the heaviest thing I ever played. If you are gonna get a clear guard you should have someone make an exact duplicate. You don't wanna be drilling any new holes. Get some clear pickup covers too

If you trace the one that's on it, I'm pretty sure I can make you a transparent one for nowt, with my developing lasercutter skills.

I loved mine. Picked up a 'wesley' one in ACID PANK colour. Was a cool player, especially as i paid about 65 quid brand new for it
needed a set up but got it super slinky

I still have the Acrylic Mockingbird, its very heavy, you will need a wide strap. I found it more comfortable with the strap shortened.
They sound good to my ears, a punchy clear sound.
