I was at the local (complete piece of shit terrible) Fender dealer today since they announced a sale (picked up a Mustang II amp for $150 :D ). Among the piles of Squiers and metal guitars there was a Fiesta Red Mustang on the floor. I walk right to it, and it's got a nicely aged pearl pickguard (like a pearl parchment), a little wee bit of pitting on the metal, rusted strings, and a serial number dating it to 94-95. But there's still plastic on the pickguard and a QC tag hanging from the neck. I asked, and they said that the found it last year in the back of their warehouse and put it out on the floor.

It's tempting me. They want $700.

Yes or no?

Sounds like a good deal for an untouched almost 20 year old Mustang if you can swing it.

the 94 95 mustangs are the best japanese! go for it!
take care about the serial number, a lot of people mistake with the 2000's; the 94 95 have no gap between the guard and the bridge, and the tort is red.

i thought about that as well, but with how yellow the pickguard is, and the pitting on the metal, it looks 20 years old.

I willing to bet it's infact one of these. The more recent '65 Mustang reissue:
