I never actually got around to posting a photo of this. The photos of that lovely blue LP standard reminded me of it. It's the spalted maple Les Paul kit I traded for on here aaaages ago. I was pretty impressed by this guitar over all. It'll probably be going on the chopping block/trading list at some point as I prefer Fender style guitars, tho this has been loads of fun I primarily wanted it for the fun of doing the projet rather than actually wanting the finished guitar.

Turned out very nice. Who was the kit manufacturer and how was the quality of the kit in general?

I can't remember how much it was/where it came from (maybe DIY Guitar Shop I got the kit in a trade on here) The quality was superb, there was certain stuff you had to do yourself like a bit of woodwork on the neck join to get it perfect and drilling for the bridge and stop tail. The headstock comes in the plain paddle style too.

I'd definitely consider another kit guitar in the future.

So the neck was good? you didn't have to do any fret leveling.

No, it was fine. Once the neck was set and the strings were on anu up to tension it took about 2 minutes to set up. I dare say a fret levelling would make it perfect but it's not needing it. Nice low action and no fretting out/buzzing anywhere.

Yeah just clear. As soon as the clear hit it the colour naturally darkened and the pattern in the maple really popped out. It would take a nice honey or lemon finished but I wanted to keep it natural.
