This thread is a tribute to why I like being part of Shortscale.org. Pens had this guitar, and decided not to convert it to a Lefty. He somehow remembered that I liked the guitar, contacted me and we worked out a trade. Now I have a guitar I have always wanted. Thanks Pens!

Besides some nicks in the finish, the SS is in pretty good shape. Pens restored her to stock for me. I need to get a new nut made for her and replace the pickup switch that has broken off. I am also considering a new scratchplate and possibly a matching back plate. I am also going to wetsand the back of the neck to gloss it up to stock. I am sure I will change out the pickups, but I will do that later.

Of those colours, a yellowed white pearl. I've got black on my black one now, as I was not feeling the tort.

What are you doing for pickups and such? I would suggest moving the three-way switch. Maybe a strat jack on the back?

I've tried many configurations. Glad to answer questions if you have any.

Yellowed Pearl might look nice. I really like the pearloid on my Comp-stang too. I saw some on ebay and I talked with Cooterfinger too. Not sure on pickups. I need to get her up and functioning first.

What kind of backplate does these take?

Whooooa, wait a second. Is that the Super-sonic? The one he almost killed a guy over when the airline lost it?

Aye, that's the one. I was really attached to it, but after building my music master and obtaining more lefty guitars, and with my current build which is a copy of the supersonic but true lefty, it was time to move it on.

My vote would be for single ply black but red tort is my second choice.

I love when guitars have a cool back story attached to them.

I love that cream Pickguard. Gives that aged look while keeping the stock color scheme.

I love gold adonized pickguards, but if I went gold on this one, they make gold guards that look metallic but are still plastic.

Not sure how the gold would look with the chrome plate though.

Yeah, so the story with this guitar is that it was my favorite guitar for a while there. At that time, I had my Jag, my Hagstrom, and this guy. The Jag I liked the scale, but it was just too heavy and big to be completely comfy, the Hagstrom was kinda heavy also and had a wide fretboard, and I didn't like the strat scale. This guy was my first true humbucker guitar, it was light and felt really nice to rock out on, and the neck is amazing. I had taken it with me on my last trip to San Diego as it was the "shittier" in terms of dollar amounts to my Jaguar, so I tossed it in a gig bag and had it as my carry on.

On the flight back they "filled up on overhead" space and made me check it. I protested and told them it wasn't in a hard case and that this guitar was really important to me, they assured me it wasn't going into that same compartment as the large stuff and it was going to be handled nicely since it was a gate check in.

I get to St Louis after a connecting flight, which I checked again at the desk to make sure they were going to transfer my guitar to the new plane. I waited and waited and my guitar never showed up. I started flipping out and went to the airline desk and started asking what was going on, they told me they couldn't find it. At that point I lost my shit and started flipping the fuck out, telling the guy I understood it wasn't his fault but that guitar was like a child to me, musicians are weird and we bond to our instruments, that I couldn't really replace it (it was hard as fuck finding that one in the first place) as they didn't make them anymore, etc. They gave me a claim number to check back in on it and I got on the train feeling like I'd lost my dog or something.

I called a few times to the number and again repeated that I couldn't replace that guitar and this was absolute bullshit. Finally, I was about to go to bed and heard a knock at my door at 11pm, they sent my guitar by courier to my house once they found it. I stood there hugging the damn guitar for like a full minute while the courier looked at me like I was insane.

I traded it because while I still love that guitar, I didn't play it anymore since it had flaws to it such as being right handed. I actually traced directly from that guitar for my new build so the new SuperSonic II that I'm building has it's DNA, and the neck was copied directly from measurements of that guitar. I know Taylor takes really good care of his guitars so I know it's in good hands.

Oh btw, I think I can find the back plate that came with it, I always remove those on any strat-style guitar as they annoy the hell out of me, just need to dig for it. I completely forgot about that part as I said, I hate those things and remove them as the first order of business.

Gold and delete the chrome plate. Single piece.
