there is a fellow tring to unload one on the j.s. forum and he is asking 1300.00 for his, and when i converted it to u.s. dollars it indicated it was around 1,900.00 surely that can't be right, there is no way these things are reaching 2 grand! thats insanity!

They generally appear on eBay for less than half that over here. Guy's delusional if he thinks it's worth £1300.

Just had a quick look on UK eBay and there are about 5 BINs ranging from £475 up to £599.

indeed he wants 1300, it is left handed tho, but even those don't sell for more than 150 more than a righty model, claims its a 96, but not 50th anniversary sticker on the headstock.

Being left handed changes things a bit. It's sad but it's probably possible to get that much for it.

i know for a fact i have seen lefty jagstangs go for around 700 bucks, which is a bit more than a righty, but not over 1,000.00 more!
being a lefty does indeed suck, you don't really get the chance to just go to a store and play a guitar off the wall. if you are lucky, there might be 1-2 lefties in a larger guitar store, unless you go to the south paw in texas, but they charge EVEN MORE than a normal store does for there stock of lefty stuff.

I still want that fucking neck, though. I'm considering buying the one on ebay at this point regardless of price just to fucking have that neck. I know I'll always be able to get my money back out of it and then some...

I hear people go on about these necks. What makes them so special, is it the profile?

I'm wondering the same thing, what's special about them, aside from the decal obviously? I've got one knocking around, it needs a refret, I've got nothing to put it on so I haven't had much motivation to do the job. But maybe I should?

I believe they're A-width (incredibly narrow up by the nut). Was an option on '60s Mustangs but the Jag-Stang might be the only American market RI Stang neck to feature it or something. Basically it's just really tiny. They're a thinner profile than the vast majority of reissue Mustang necks too.

Huh, if that's true it means I'd probably never play it I don't have big hands, but I find necks with wider nuts to be so much more playable. Might just pull the frets and post it in the classifieds.

I actually have really small hands and don't find the JS neck as comfortable as my 90s CIJ '62 Jag's, which is wider and has a thinner/flatter profile in the back. The JS makes extended chords a bit finicky, obviously very comfy if you're mostly in it for dem 5ths though.

Of the three still in the completed listings on eBay the lefty jagstangs sold for $900 (red), $950 (red), and $750 (blue).

On eBay UK there is only one for sale (red) and the dude is asking £1,250 and used to be asking £1,500 but is offering pickup only. So, they seem rare and like anything it's worth whatever is willing to pay and with so few available he may actually be able to get that. (I don't think he will, though).

i loved my 96 j.s. neck, very slim nut profile, def a lil tiny bit smaller than a jag, the neck profile is DIFFERENT than a jaguar of the same year and factory, i used a gauge to measure this years and years ago, im sure i don;t have the picture anymore, but indeed both necks were shortscale, fender, and from the same year and factory, one a jaguar, one a jag-stang, and they were different profiles, i know i did one at the first fret, seventh and twelfth. twas interesting to see.

I've seen them for sale locally normally in the range of £300-£550.

wait, you don't have that guitar anymore...?

very sad. and yeah, jaguar necks are way bigger than jagstang necks. i remember playing an a-width '60s jaguar in STL, and it was reallly close to the jagstang. however, i didn't have a jagstang on-hand to compare it with because that guitar is super fucking ugly and i would never travel with one.

Well, for comparison, I'm not going to bid on this even though I'm tempted to do so, I realize I only really want it because they are so rare to see come up on ebay.

Still want that neck, but I realize I'd never actually play it live and wouldn't even let anyone know I even had it, so I'm not going to buy it myself. Just waiting to see what it ends up going for.
