'72 deluxe, yes i still have the original pickups and am deciding what guitar to put those in, but this thing will be getting a nice set of p90's. it sounds nice unplugged, but is lighter than the 1980 i bought a couple of weeks ago, here are some pics of it with its sibling. I had to trade my SG classic plus cash, but totally worth it IMO
when i saw that my first thought was SOCIAL DISTORTION@!
When i saw them live years and years ago i realized we used the exact same live setup and i had never even checked into what he used.
all he had was a boss od-1, his guitar and his bassman.
while i was using a tele with p-90s and not a les paul, everything else was the same. Loves me some good ole social d.
i havent seen them since..... i think it was 06, or maybe 07. actually it was summer of 07, at the amazon room or whatever in bloomington normal Illinois. or maybe it was in peoria.... damn my memory is slipping! great show tho!
I love gold tops, and I have newfound respect for deluxe series. I just stickied my 77 goldtop at the top of this page earlier in the week.
How about a mini in the bridge and p90 in the neck position?

I like them both. I read that PAF-style minihum sounds better in the neck position, in my Epiphone Wilshire 66 reissue I liked the neck pickup more than the bridge one. Just my 2 cents if you want to match p90 with minibucker. And I can only guess and dream about how Gibson PAF-style minis would sound in a good semihollow like Sheraton or Riviera.
