ive an old vox wah pedal which has seen better days, it sounds a bit crackly when using it so I was a way of cleaning it up? Or would it be better to change it for another wah and if so what would you recommend for the funky moments in life

Just hit the pot with some switch cleaner, I have the servisol stuff you can buy from Maplins and it works wonders on guitar pots.

Yep, switch cleaner, never WD40 (unless it's one of the few - I think Fulltone - wahs that instruct you to use WD). A jet of air sometimes does the trick, too - I poke a thin drinking straw in and blow like fuck. Rather fantastically, this worked like a charm last time.

Tried the pot cleaner but still very crackly. Will try the air trick. It's pretty old so wondered if the pot was totally shagged

Pour beer on it. Seriously though, if you have to take apart the pot to clean, I would be wary of doing that. I did that to an old 70's King Vox wah and it was very dificult to reassemble it, I should have just replaced the damn thing.

I use DeoxIT FaderLube, it's a contact cleaner that has a bit of lubrication built-in. Stuff cleaned with this FaderLube will never really feel the same again, but at least it will be safe to use.
