The Electro Harmonix Flanger Hoax. It is a phaser pedal with a buch of interesting modulations and settings. You can make some really interesting sounds with it. It does a phaser well of course, but also does strange radio and sci fi noises and such. Reminds me of some things I have heard on the Dark Side of the Moon album.
Wouldn't you know it, as soon as I buy this to fill my need for audio tweaking, I get a PM about an original Polychorus.... SO now I have that coming in as well.
So I should be able to make some interesting sounds. I am curious how these might be used together... Could be really cool... or the end of the world as we know it.

Nice Board! Whats the blue Boss pedal in there, a PS-5 or PS-6?

That board isn't mine. Just the pic the seller sent me so I could see how the Poly looked.

Nice score! I just skimmed the post, didn't read it all, workscaling at its best

That Poly Chorus is not an original btw, it's the regular ol' '90s Stereo reissue.
Originals have hardwired AC leads, no overload LED, square edges around the "poly" in the green cubes and the knobs are in different places. Plus they're not Stereo so they aren't marked as such and the 2nd output is a dry/direct one and they're labeled "CHORUS EFFECT/STUDIO FLANGE" versus "ANALOG FLANGE/CHORUS" (or vice-versa on the ones labeled Poly Flange)

Not that it matters, but it's a PS-3 on that board.

Good to know. I got it from mastermorya. His FS thread said it was vintage.
It's my board and [was] my pedal. I certainly didn't mean to imply that the pedal was something that it wasn't; all I knew was that they don't make it in the big box anymore. HNB if you want to talk about it in PM's, please go ahead. Incidentally, here's a track that features that exact pedal:
Er, sorry if I stirred the shit a little there guys, wasn't my aim. I just thought HNB might've confused it for an older one because they changed knobs between two classic EHX styles on these and stuff.
That's a bro-deal for a Stereo one in that condition as well. There's a mint big-box one on eBay going for double that and the new small ones are over $200 retail like these once were.

Naw it doesn't bother me at all. The price is totally fair and I wasn't after a vintage one either so that isn't a big deal to me. I just wanted to mention why I had called it vintage. I didn't know there was an inbetween reissue that came after the original and before the new smaller box one.
No problem as far as I am concerned. I am excited to mess with it. Lord knows I have enough amps to play around with the stereo aspect of it also. Anyone know the proper way to use that feature? Just run a line out to to different amps or anything more complicated? Never used a stereo effect yet.

Maybe it would be more accurate to call it "vintagey"

I think most places call it a "Big Box Reissue" but it is hard to find a lot of info. Most threads are either about the vintage ones or the new small box ones.

Flanger Hoax came in today and is really fun. Great phaser sounds, interesting flanger stuff, tremolo sounds, chorus sounds, strange fuzz and noise, sci fi sounds, and more. Grest for people who like to fiddle with knobs. So many options it is crazy. I will do a demo of playing with knobs later when kids nap.

Demo. It is long but my camera actually ran out of storage space while I was messing around with settings and it got cut off. Gives you some of the sounds it can make.

7:28 into that video made me want to have one of those for a 1950s style mad scientist movie soundtrack.
Also I need clean pants now.

Pretty cool. It can do most of that stuff without even using a guitar.

Polychorus came in yesterday! Very cool! Have to mess with the knobs to get the Nirvana sounds, but they are there if you fiddle with them. I like the way it can make your sound more metallic or tinny.
