Started getting back into the single coil thing again but want something that'll deal with with gain well.

Tried this pickup briefly after fitting it to a customers guitar and was impressed ...but not tried it long term. Anyone had any experience ?

Tried the Quarter pounder prieviously and thought it was ok, but a bit characterless...this one any better ?

Or perhaps a Curtis Novak or Lollar equivalent ?

Cheers

You fitted that one in my Jag. Sounds good through a cranked Marshall or my HM-2.

It's ace and was able to keep up with my friend's Les Paul that has some stupidly hot bareknuckle pickups.

had a hot bridge for jaguar

very nice, way hotter than stock (11k i remember?) so it got some good grunt but still had some of that jag clarity and jangle although 1 meg pots are always gonna get that

i'd say best combination is a vintage neck and hot bridge

I like them, probably the best of the bunch imo.
Way better than the QP or Rails. Sounds more musical to me, less harsh but still handles Drive well and you can still hear all the Jag tone.

Ah did I ? Wish I'd spent more time trying it then... fuuu... pretty much just checked it was working at the time.

I fitted another at work and plugged it into a ltd ed marshall 1 watter... sounded great !! But it was brief...

Thanks for the other opinions...

Have you tried the Mexican Jaguar pickups? I think they're similar and cheaper that the Duncans
link

It's been ages since I tried them but they sound quite good in Mike's demo:

If the pickups in my Squier Jag (I believe they are ~10-12k bridge, ~7-8k neck) do well with my TurboRAT and Dano V2 Fuzz at full gain, I think SD Hot for Jaguar should do equally as well.

If you mean the SJAG-2, they're very good pickups. They are not too hot, they still jangle well in the middle position, and make the strangle switch very useful.
