Bought this used on ebay, and immediately tore it apart for the pickups. Now my good top has p90's, and this lp has mini hums with gold covers.
It was a great deal, and after selling a jaguar that was way too heavy, I might consider another, they are really good guitars for the price!

Awesome! We're guitar twins. What's your impression of the Edwards build quality compared to the Gibbos?

It isn't really apples to apples to the gold top, different feel from the studios I have played for sure. It is lighter, and the finish doesn't feel as good as my old sg classic, but it is miles ahead of the entry stuff gibson puts out now. Since it comes from the factory with Duncan's, it is a no brainer to pick one of these over an entry level gibson.

Update, sorted the wiring, but I have run into 2 issues...
-No output from the neck pickup, I am worried I used too much heat to get the old covers off. I have e-mailed Novak to find out how much a rewind is just in case
-the one screw on the bridge pickup is slightly too short, this is much easier to fix.
The bridge pickup (which works great) sounds awesome, and the tone rolled off sounds like a cocked wah pedal, bonus.

Went to get a multimeter to test the pickup, brand new and the thing is broken, it's been a frustrating guitar project so far. I am going to take it by my luthiers shop this weekend to sort it out

Hot stuff, I see so much potential for the least muddy-sounding pair of Lesters this side of Albuquerque.
Hope you can get help straightening out the electronics soon!

I can speak to that. Edwards are excellent sounding and playing guitars for the price. The feel of the nitro laquer and "mojo" factor is something that can't be accomplished without a gibson though. That being said, I still chose to sell my Les Paul Custom during some dire financial times instead of selling my Paul Reed Smith.

Update, minor wiring issue caused the neck pickup not to work, but it does work! I left it at the shop to get a piece of wood added so the bridge pickup mounting screw can bite into something

Update again,
Got it back, now working 100% and I REALLY like the mini hums, they are somewhat one trick and nasally/trebelly, but they do a great trashy/garage sound. I am stil blown away by how they react with the treble rolled off, I am running a gfs Les Paul wiring kit (500k w .22 cap), and it still has that awesome wah sound with the wiring fixed. It cops an interesting ziggy stardust type sound, if not a little more muffled.
On that note, can anyone recommend a cheap webcam with a long chord? I want to do a few demos but have no idea where to start with recording it all. I have an Mac if that helps at all, though I can't use the cam on that as it is far removed from my amp. We need a shortscale "how to make a shortscale demo" demo, meta as fuck.
