I saw Alice Cooper the other night and his lead guitar player was killing it with a few PRS guitars.
I always sort of wrote them off as nickleback/linkin' park guitars...

but when viewed outside of that context, I do like the shape and colors...

So what do you people know about them?
I don't have any at my local shop, and GC only stocks some of the cheapest models.

They're ugly and have a super weird scale length, I thought.

I owned a PRS McCarty Standard before my Jaguar. Fantastic guitars that are built very well. 25" Scale was fine to play. I am definitely a Fender guy, but they truly make a quality instrument if you can afford to buy one.

I love them, but they are expensive and quite boring to look at.

The scale length is cool, two of my electrics are that.

At some point in the future I may pick one up (if I start having enough spare money aha!)

The guy in godsmack uses one. Totally rad.

I really like the hollow bodies

They make some really nice furniture.

They play and sound great but make you look like an insufferable cock faster than almost anything else.

My flatmate plays one, although I don't know the exact model. It sounds and feels super nice, but it looks super lame and weighs an absolute ton.

They are obviously good guitars, when you play one its difficult to pick fault with the design.
My main problem is with the flashy veneers and association to some lame artists. If you can get past that you are okay.

There are some models that look more traditional, i think the 'Mira' is one of them if i remember right.
Some of the SE models sound a bit uninspiring and a pup upgrade would improve things, pretty much like some of the Epiphones in the same price range.

That's weird, all the ones I've played have been super lightweight, which is one of the main reasons most the guys I know use them.

I think I'm in the minority here though, I have a thing for guitar bling...

But I think that guitars like this are awesome. They play quite well and look quite nice.


If you can afford one, definitely go for it!

i know a lady who has 2 OLDER models, they are both probly 20 years old now, really nice guitars, the headstocks look different on hers, not as pointy. the super wide fretboard and flat radius is not my style, nor is anything else about the guitar really, but they are quility and generally they are worth the asking price. tho... 2,000+ for a guitar with a bridge that is "pre-compensated" get get fuct in my book

Yeah, I've had a guilty crush on a PRS lately too. There's a guy in a local jam band who plays one and sounds awesome in that context.
