Yeah, I think I mostly like it for the aesthetic bits. Nothing wrong with that

Just get some whitewash and turn that stuff into shabby chic.

Was thinking a crackle glaze or perhaps a touch of the rag roller

Body wood quite literally means nothing on a Strat apart from having visible grain or not.
I don't like ash Fenders much, they're heavier than a '70s Les Paul on a bad day.

Agreed...thanks, Paul. For all our obsessing about wood, it can't be over-empahsized. Wood is a minor variable (virtually undetectable by the human ear) in electric guitar tone.
BTW, Sloan, I used to spend lotsa time in Cleveland. I was an Ocoee guide and kayaker.
Cheers,

Wow!
We've got a pretty new Amazon fulfillment center and Wacker is building a plant here (solar tech from germany), so there's been a lot of bullshit being built up. Chain restaurants and hotels etc...

for some reason I was expecting the fungal infected wood like this, which can look quite cool
but then I realised that's spalted maple, not ash
These ash models look pony. with squier doing what they're doing at the moment it makes fenders moves like this look pathetic. Okay not pathetic, but uninspired maybe

I always liked Cleveland. Some of the other guides were from there and I always stayed nearby at Hiwassee Outfitters. Small world!
Yeah, development's good in some ways, not so good in others. At least ya got a better tax base and more jobs. That's good for everyone who can tolerate the new metro-busy culture...and the ma & pa shops that get squeezed out of business
Cheers,

Oh man I'd take back all the shit I've thrown in fenders face if they released a Rustic Ass line.

Fender marketing copy writers go wild:
"Fender's new
Rustic Ass line...bodies an' necks carved from 100% Georgia mule bone. For ass-kickin
bone tone."
