I don't know if I ever said anything about this guitar here. I don't think I have. But I have been looking in to it this morning since I saw one on eBay today going for $800.00 I got one a few years ago in Florida, brand new on sale for $500.00 I love the guitar. It plays beautifully and looks great. It's been in a hard case. I don't really play it much. But I've read there was only 250 of them made for Ford promotions. So I think I am just going to keep it as a collectible. They seem like they will go up in value. Anyone have any more info on them? Also, what is the best way to keep it stored. Right now it's in a hard fender Tele case. I still have the plastic on the Pickguard. Should I keep it on or toss it? My cyclone had it on still and it was a real bitch to remove. It got hard and everything.

I think that's the decider; if the mild adhesive that keeps it on is going to harden up and become a problem, I'd remove it.

Sure but that assumes you'll want to one day turn it into a player. if he's sitting on it to resell then surely its best to keep it as untouched as poss....and let the buyer deal with hardened plastic covering? (does it harden??)

This is like the Fender Jaguar guitar. Because, of course, if Fender are going to create a custom guitar to coincide with some sort of celebration of the Jaguar car brand they're obviously going to pick... a Stratocaster.
Obviously.
It's a shame they didn't already have a guitar with the same name or anything, that would have been cooler. But convincing blooz lawyers to pay £4000 for an actual Jaguar guitar instead of a Strat, with a big black cat painted on it, would be potentially difficult I suppose.
So yeah, a Mustang Telecaster.
Tune in next week when Ford/Fender unveil their plans for a Coronado Precision Bass in conjunction with the reissue of the classic Ford motor. Coming soon, the Fender Marauder Mustang, in conjunction with the Ford Marauder, just to fuck with your head.

if you are wanting to keep it untouched and re-sell it, i would leave the plastic on, take off the strings, relax the truss rod, leave it in the case. how is the humidity down there? are you near the ocean? lots of salt in the air?

Pennsylvania. Not much humidity. It's in my basement. It's a finished basement.

People who leave the film on the plastic are total vermin. What is wrong with these people? First thing I do when I get a guitar is take that god damn fucking plastic off. "OOH BUT IT'LL GET SCRATCHED" People pay THOUSANDS OF POUNDS FOR SCRATCHED FUCKING GUITARS. KEEP IT IN A FUCKING CASE.
I once peeled the plastic off the pickups in a guitar shop. Guy rocked up to me and was all YO BUD YOU GONNA PAY FOR THAT? and I was like, no, but I wanted to try and play it which was quite difficult when the plastic was touching the strings. I'd tried spitting on it, jizzing on it and then finally pissing on it to try and get it to stick back down but then I stopped being a cunt and tore it off like a real man. Then I kicked him in the mouth and moonwalked out.
