I used to play 5 all the time, went back to 4, and now play VI (and 4 occasionally). Not sure exactly why, but going back to 5 string generally does not interest me at all (though there is occasional utility, and if I did a reunion with an old band, there's one song in particular I never could transpose over to 4 string); perhaps for the same reason that I have no interest in having a soul patch :P

My Yamaha is a 3+2... it's better IMO.

Makes for a big headstock with bass tuners, I think.

I might just put mega strings on my tele bass and tune it down to A, and use a VI or my wife's mustang bass for normal bass jobs...
