Switches

Post by ekwatts »

I may be attempting a rewire and rejig of my Nu Sonic again soon, sticking some different pickups in it. I'm intending it to have two volumes and a tone control, but with individual on/off switches for the pickups. I want those tiny flip switches you get on super-strat upgrade kits, but they come in a number of different types like double pole-throw and such nonsense. Do I just need a bog-standard on/off switch? Is that it?

Bump.

Come on, I'm an electronics noob. Last time I did this it turned out perfect, but I'm convinced it was a fluke.

You can use on/on because when you turn the pickup off you send the signal to ground anyway, so it doesn't matter that it is on. I would guess that an on/off switch just has one terminal already sent to ground but you can definitely use on/on. I'm fairly sure that's what's normally used.

What's the wiring at the moment? Is it the same as a Strat? Why not just add a push-pull pot to add the bridge pickup in? That way you'll have all the pickup options without those little switches all over the place.
