Looking for a decent bass head to power a 115 speaker.
Currently looking at an Ampeg micro VR, a Porta Flex 350, and a Gallien Kreuger mb200
don't really want to spend more than $300
any suggestions?
PS
will be used mostly for recording

Friend of mine went with the Ampeg Micro and had two break down on him before calling it quits and buying an Ashdown Mag. Something to do with the fans cutting out, allowing the amp to overheat. It's the sort of issue that does get picked up on and sorted out, but then you have no idea how many of the faulty bastards are floating around the marketplace.

I have a MicroVR that I'm really happy with, but I think I'd go with the portaflex, just for the extra watts. The VR is just about what I can get away with, and a bit more headroom would be nice for volume.

2nd question. The speaker in my cabinet is rated at 150 watts 8 ohms, how closely should I try to match that?
Thanks!

I have a micro vr also and love it, been strong for probably 5 years now. I have not yet found a TC device that was bad. If your cab and that head are both 150 rated, go balls deep there.
