I'd offer em $35. It's all scratched up and shit. Pretty sure they'd take it since they already knocked off $5,000

Haha,ok,i'll try. These guitars were built by the Fender Custom Shop for display at the Winter NAMM 2011. It was a limited edition of 40 guitars in 20 different colors so just 2 were made in each color.
I think this is the one on the right between the the Burgundy Mist and Oly White(below the video)

I can imagine a special high-paid man in a Fender Custom Shop crew who after guitars are already done and finished is just sitting there without any breaks, smoking cigarettes, drinking beer and playing guitars all day long till they become worn. If Fender reduces prices on Custom products, this man will definitely go on strike

i wish they would "relic" the frets too... any guitar with the finish worn off the maple neck between the frets like that would have absolutely fucked up frets
Lovely Strat, but man am I ever getting tired of relics. FUCK.

No shit, you used to see a guitar like that and think of the places it's been and the life it's led. Now I see a relic and am like, yeah some dick got out the file, razor blade, and some stain again.

What is MJT? Do they have the other one? Here are photos of both Shell Pink strats at NAMM 2011.
You can see in this photo(below) that Guitar Center bought the one in the top row

MJT build guitars to your spec and offer varying degrees of relic finishes.

Mom is a good negotiator. She told them "It's all scratched up and shit" and offered them $35.They settled for $40.
She said she wants give it a little touch-up before my birthday.
[shrug] i was going to say the exact opposite. this is just about the most "flamboyant" color combination i can imagine, and looks wrong in so many ways to me. hell, why not add gold hardware and a matching pink headstock to really push it over the top? blecchhh...
EDIT: oh shit, it already does have gold hardware.
obviously some people enjoy it though, which is just dandy. Sherriff Truman believed that Jodie Packard was the most beautiful woman in Twin Peaks. he can have that shit.
but... whether i like the colors or not, this Strat is classy as hell.

actually, i'm really into the idea of relics lately, and see it as a work of art if done correctly. almost to where i'm not really interested in a "new/clean" guitar so much anymore. the Fender relics never excited me though, and always seem so "assembly line" to how they're done. as can easily be seen in these display pics, they really don't have a lot of imagination when it comes to doing relic jobs. seeing a whole line of guitars worn in exactly the same spots does nothing for me. personally, i find the work of someone like MJT to be quite stunning, to the point of actually considering sending most all of my guitars to them.
