My buddy has a special edition of the Fender Blues Junior III which I've played played twice. A small (about 20 X 22 combo) Blues-friendly amp that I am becoming very fond of...that is to say
I'm Jonesin...
- it's a Limited Edition III
with a Cannabis Rex speaker
and upgraded tubes: ECC83 and EL84...
I believe it's the only BJ III in green Tolex.
This model listed for about $600 and used ones are selling for that or more. What do more experienced, knowledgeable folks think of this amp?
Cheers,

How much would it cost to buy a regular used Blues Junior and upgrade the parts to match this one? If you feel like you need one with all the upgrades and it's cheaper than doing it yourself then go for it. I had a Blues Junior once and it was pretty decent, a speaker upgrade is a good improvement though.

Paying for the tolex
All the other mods are cheap as hell to do. In fact modded ones would probably not sell for any more used than a stock one anyway

The only thing that is really an UPGRADE is the speaker which you should be able to get for $80 or less.
Get a crate V18 for peanuts and mod it. You will not be disappoint.

i love these simple lil fender amps. sure, its pricey, but just get a normal one like stated before. these things are great for recording and take pedals really well.
but if sloan says the crate v18 is comparable, then.....

Closest to Forest Green. But the color's not important to me, except to help describe it...

$600 is ALOT OF FUCKING MONEY when it comes to guitar amplifiers. you would be better off selling your equipment and buying a $600+ car and living a happy life. guitarists are the most useless pieces of shit on the face of the earth. TRUE FACT.

If you really like the color of it, then go for it. I have always liked the sound of Blues Jr's, but you might be able to find a nice used one in the $300 range with standard tolex, and then throw in your speaker of choice for less than $100. As far as sound as concerned, I think they're great little amps, but at $600 you've got a lot of options for where your money could go. I paid less than $600 for a DRRI, and it was definitely a more chimey amp. But, like I said, if the color is important to you, then jump on that deal.

Isn't it funny how musicians will pay a premium for the aesthetic element when it has the least contribution to the sound.
I'd plug into a turd if it sounded good.

I wouldn't. It might sound good, but it would still sound shit.
Back on topic here...

Okay. Everybody focus. The thread's gotten way off the question. It's not about the Fender Blues Jr. We're talkin about a
Special Edition of the BJr.:
- it's a Limited Edition III
with a Cannabis Rex speaker
and upgraded tubes: ECC83 and EL84...
I believe it's the only BJ III in green Tolex.
We're not talkin about color. Sloan, you been trackin this pretty well. The question was: who's played this particular edition and how does it
compare to the Blues Jr.?
