I like how excited and in to Tele's John is. You can tell he is a fan of the guitar and likes to tweak things to his liking, but maintains a respect for where the guitar came from and historical tidbits.
Starting to get more into gold when it's used in the right place. Gold on gold on gold works for me. Looks to be a nice, not too garish gold paint used. Like
He's a great player and a very diverse guy. He can do anything but mostly loves his country/bluegrass, hence the Tele fetish. The weird headstock on the Bigsby version of his original sig Tele was to aid those behind-the-nut pedalsteelish G bends.
He should never have joined Manson's band, seems like they just fought all the time plus he's a teetotaller so he didn't fit in with their touring lifestyle at all. I guess it raised his profile a bit but not always in a good way, a lot of people probably just write him off now.

I like it. However, I started getting into his playing and it made me want a Tele HH. I bought a 2003 or 04 USA Tele HH with the S-1 switching, etc. and you know what? To me it's just another guitar with two humbuckers. I never bonded with it. If I buy a Tele again, it's going to sound like a Tele!
