I'd prefer the Fender, but... no tone knob!!
Unlike guitar, which is almost always dimed, the tone knob is very handy for bass.

I think the roller wheels on the top control plate are some sort of active EQ.

On the fender there is a master volume and a blend poti. The upper controls are 2way-active tonecontrol and a active-passive switch.
The squier has two volumepotis and a 2way-active tonecontrol - without possibility to go passive...

Yeah, the upper rollers are active tone control... I just prefer to play passive, for which there's no control.
