Making dumb financial decisions: the fun way

Post by finboy »

I am in love with my bronco, so much so that I stopped using my DRRI altogether. I happened upon a really nice princeton reverb, 1980 is one of the "pull boost" years, but I talked to an amp tech who just worked on one and said the sound the same, and are wired about the same. The only big difference is the cabinet (ply/particle board), but it looks as good as the brand new reissues, very clean.

This is in the mail, now selling my drri lol

Honesty it's a few factors...

It's a little too big for where I am moving, next place will be 700sq feet and I will be taking my bronco amp and this, should be more than loud enough and I can run stereo if need be

I have 5 amps, a 100w fender tone master, an ac30hw (30/15 watts), an orange rocker 30, my bronco, and now this princeton. If I want LOUD fender or even just LOUD my bases are covered, the DRRI is really redundant at that point

I LOVE my bronco, and I think the opportunity to get cheap silverfaces is really coming to an end. I got a good deal on the bronco and this pr is suuuuper clean which is really hard to find, I've been looking for months.

That said, the DRRI is a GREAT amp, it sounds amazing and is dead reliable. I guess it down to the fact I can always get a DRRI, hell I only bought this one because it was 50% off with warranty! but chances of finding clean old amps are getting slim. On that note, play both, the guy who bought my DRRI has a twin, and is buying this because it is lighter, sounds great for reasonable club sized venues, and isn't deafeningly loud
