"Panther" ES-335 copy

Have you ever seen or played this guitar? I've seen it in a local shop but the shopkeeper didn't allow me to try it because "I cannot try a guitar unless I want to buy it". I'm not able to find anything about these "Panther" guitars except that there are cheap, horrible strato copies of this brand... Could his "Panther" ES 335 copy be a good, cheap semi-hollow guitar or I should look for an Epiphone Dot/Harley Benton E35?

Never heard of panther... however fuck that shop if he won't let you play it tell him to spin on it. There used to be a shop in Glasgow that had this policy needless to say they went out of business.

That's not all! He said that his old, vintage mustang (with maple fretboard, so probably of '70s) has been valued for 12000â‚¬: it's crazy! The maximum price that I've seen for a vintage mustang has been of 2000â‚¬!

However, I'm interested in this ES-335 copy because he said that he could sell it for 200â‚¬, that is a good price for a cheap semi-hollow guitar, even if I don't know how it could play...

Your English is better than some of our American cousins on here. I wouldn't by a guitar from a shop without playing it first.

What I don't understand here is what happens if you ask to play it, seeing as you're clearly interested in buying it, play the fucking thing and decide it sucks and choose not to buy it. What is this douchebag going to do? Cry?

I don't understand that sort of attitude. At all. My first instinct would be to say, "would you buy an item of clothing or pair of shoes without trying it on first?" If that simple logic doesn't get into his thick skull, I'd finish on "sod you, I'll buy from some other shop." Places like that deserve to go out of business.

Yep. Tell him you're interested in buying it, play it, say it's crap and leave.

Unless you're suddenly rich and can afford one of these babies, it sounds like you'd sleep better at night if you forget about panthers altogether and find one of the bazillion guys and gals out there who are trying to sell their Epiphone Dots (many probably under â‚¬200). And most are probably dying to have your play theirs first.

That, plus it's a 200 Euro guitar. I think I've been to shops that say that for guitars that cost thousands, but not for cheap items.

I live in Puglia, in a town in which there's no music shop; the musicians of my town have to move to near cities to buy plectrums and strings...
