vintage gretsch serial numbers

Post by robert(original) »

I have a gretsch in the shop, vintage archtop. needs a neck re-set, and an inlay re-glued. its got to be 40s-50s looks to be all original, missing the strap peg, and there is an extra notch in the bridge for the high e.
anyone know the date codes? or a site that could point me in the right direction?
the serial number is.

serial numbers
1945-47 maybe?

There's a lot of stuff on that site, catalogs (although I didn't see it in any with that headstock), a database (although people sometimes enter the wrong models), and some other things.
