Having been roundly scolded for considering this, I've just put my bonus to hopefully better use.

Hurrah!

I'll post some when it arrives. Got it on the eBay about ten minutes ago which I'm a bit concerned about but it seemed like a good deal so went for it.

A guy in a band I sometimes sub in on drums for has one, I thought it was pretty sweet.

Obviously.

I hope so. If the guy is being honest in his ad (and his prompt and polite comms so far make me think so) he's basically just had it sitting in a case from new.

I'm literally grinning, it's honestly straight-up laughable how much better you've done than an Eastwood for the same money.

The Electromatic Pro Jets with the single cutaway were pretty appealing to me. It's probably the only guitar where I'd choose the black one. I like the double cutaway too, just not as much for some reason. They used to offer it with a Bigsby back when it had minibuckers... I'd definitely want one of those on there, and probably sort some DeArmond style pickups. What you've bought is pretty much what I'd want to mimic as close as possible.

Ace work, I know you're going to love it and would only advise maybe replacing that Space Control bridge with a a Compton or Tru Arc for better klang and bang. And I agree with paul_, there's a bit of humor underlying so much of your trouble and ensuing destiny, with a Duo Jet now on the way.

After close to a year now with my old pre-FMIC G6128T (Filtertrons and wonky big headstock), the only thing bugging me now is that it's beginning to sound a tad redundant in the collection aside the Cindicaster, Jazzmaster, and G1622-1962, me really craving the crisp and crunchy sound of Dynasonics...If not going a completely different direction and putting a splittable Powertron in the bridge for Teh Rockz. it's otherwise a really flexible guitar with so many tones.

^ This. Although I wasn't scolding, just giving you an eff-why-eye.

That is beautiful. Although:

i do love the look of black gretschs with a bigsby, all the frills and chrome. well done for tracking a lefty down.

these american models are too rich for my blood so i started looking at the electromatic models, and although nice, just don't have the magic formula in sound or feel. i think the dynasonic pickups which your has are what give the gretsch sound i like so much. so i'm now considering getting an epi 339 and some gfs surf 90s, which are a somewhat faithful repro

BUT THE DNA!

If he'd have done that tricky duster-under-the-strings manoeuvre, he'd have gone over a grand for it, I betcha.

Meh - I can dust and restring for a £100 (or more?) saving. Plus, I can put a nice set of Fender bullets on it if the bullets look as sweet as they do poking out of the bridge on my Danelectro.
