Westone Prestige 117 photobomb

Post by Bacchus »

I took apart and restrung my Westone today. I noticed a few odd things whilst doing so. The tapered knobs are really cool but I discovered that the undersides of them are felted and what seemed even stranger was that they had put little plastic spacers in the gap of the split pot. Anyone ever seen this done before?

I also only noticed the workmanship not quite being up to the legendary standard you always hear about. You can see a peak of the cavity behind the bridge pickup ring and the pickup ring holes are a wee bit slapdash.

Sounds brilliant though and is so easy to play. Probably my favourite heavy rock guitar.

Never saw the plastic spacers on the split shaft pots before but it sounds like an excellent idea. I've had
one side of a split shaft pot break off many times. Especially if you try to straighten one out after they get
pinched together too much and the knob starts feeling loose.

Great looking guitar.
Smells like Rock n' Roll
