My IBANEZ JTK1 JETKING arrived on Friday whilst I was at work (thanks downstairs neighbours!), and I'm pretty chuffed with it so far.


Shiny shiny: colour is more accurate in following snap


Lounge act: (feat. Aladdin-style strap kindly donated by Andi Ultratwin; cat-in-plastic-carrier-bag model's own)


IMPORTANT OBSERVATIONS:

• Love the flatter radius (possibly wider neck also), suits my ape-hands a treat. The 'stock' 10s might be helping this fact, but will find out for sure when I pick-up/find some 11s.
• Think I actually prefer 'satin' necks to really glossy necks.. I hate to use the word 'fast' when describing a neck, but it IS.
• Coil-split is usable, but with the usual huge output-drop that has plagued all guitars I've tried with coilsplit, apart from the Squier Double Fat Tele Deluxe weirdly. Splits to the inner coils, thinking about spinning the pickups around to get my Black Francis Contemporary Tele twang on.
• The 'vintage-looking' tuners look like they should be glow-in-the-dark. Wish they were. May upgrade to something vintage Klusony/Gotohy down the line but no rush.

TLDR: Sonds kool, feels good man.

Video demo at some point, probs post-11s and proper set-up.

I love that two-ply black/silver pickguard. So classy.

I just love the overall look of the guitar. The metallic pickguard also adds to the look. Nice score.

Hahaha, I did answer, but my answer to that was presuming you'd said 'custom stRings', hence my comment. The customs was prepaid by the seller (well, me I guess, actually) so it didn't have any additional problems. Said charges were like £50, plus £50 for shipping. £276 in total for a guitar I really wanted that's impossible to find over here; nae bad really.

Naaaaaah, I'm not normally one to change pickups unless I have a real problem with 'em; these sound fine to me. Part of owning a new guitar for me is the new elements it brings along with it, rather than just making it more 'normal' or whatever.

The spinning the pickups around will make the bridge more trebley and the neck more bassy, so not necessarily an improvement but good for the lols / to cop them old skool Pixies vibes.

Couldn't you just swap the north leads from the pickups where they attach to the switch to swap what coil it splits to? That way it wouldn't change your full humbucker tone.

I could, but spinning 'em is considerably less work, and easier to revert if I don't like it... aaaand shouldn't change the fullbuckertoanz any noticeable amount.

I did wonder what the FUCK you were going on about. That would also have been about the most mundane question ever (glossing over the fact that my actual question was about an admin process, like).

Always liked the look of all the JTK models but never actually seen one in the flesh.

Definitely cool as fuck. Gretsch did something similar on their Anniversary models. They also did a hybrid where the inlays after the 12th fret were dots so you can get your meedly mee on.

Congrats! Sharp lookin guitar there.
