A clone of a clone, that's mad. I'm also a huge fan of the BMP at the moment. Personally favouring the IC and green Sovtek models. Which one has your favourite sonds?

I actually really like the NYC reissue modern muffs. Russian isn't as creamy, which is what I like.

No look. These are manufactured by the same people. It's a Joyo deal where they'll slap any artwork you like on the pedals if you buy in bulk. Similar guyz have spammed me recently.

These would be better if they said 'tone fancier'.

I agree the Russian models aren't as creamy, they have a lot more low end but yeah, a little more harsh. My friend has a nice rams head big muff that I'm hoping to clone in the near future. I'm quite into most versions of the big muff. In my opinion, they're the best distortion pedal for lead work/not to complex chord work.

I have an RAT reissue and it's fine and all, BUT MUFFS.

I ran my new (old) IC muff through my amp at practice and for some reason I couldn't get the thing to boost my signal. It was barely matching the gain of my clean sound when turned on. My friend has one that has so much gain, it can't be put up far at all. My volume pot was at full and it just wasn't cutting it. Not sure what was going on.

I own an old green russian muff which i use for bass. My favorite for guitar is a madebymike 78icmuff.

It's definitely not "broken" it functions and it slightly raises the output of my signal just not by a lot. It functions and sounds exactly like my other IC muff, just doesn't have as much volume on tap.

Yeah, that's a broken pedal. If it's otherwise fine - besides being broken - check the connections to and the function of the volume pot. Another easy thing to try is swap the op amps out if you've any spares lying around. Those are the first things to go if the pedal accidently gets too much voltage and sometimes still pass a signal if fried.

I actually have a spare set for another I'm repairing, I'll socket them and see what happens.

Looking around online, it seems a lot of people have issues with these pedals being only slightly "louder" than their clean signal. I've had pretty shit luck recently with these, bought two at a higher price than I should've and they're both apparantly fucked.

The Donner/Mooer one or are you talking about a different muff?

He's got a vintage EHX IC/Op-amp muff. The same one that Corgan used on Siamese Dream.

I build clones of them and they're really popular. When I make them they're loud as hell. Dunno what's up with the old ones - crappy bypass circuitry maybe.

Maybe so Mike. I'm pretty shit when it comes to electronics besides basic soldering. I would hate to fry those IC if they aren't already.

I have a second one, which definitely has fried op amps. I think I will change these ones first and see how it reacts compared to my tone bypass version.
