Anyone played a Marshall SL-5?

As the title says, has anyone tried out the Marshall SL-5?
I've been curious to try one since they came out and at the moment am seriously considering trading in my Princeton RI for one. I've always been a Marshall man at heart, but not had one since I sold my JVM. I like the Princeton a lot, but for Fender tones I prefer my blackface Bassman.

Any opinions?

I've never gelled with Marshalls, or Marshall-style amps. Secondhand value of the PRRI far outstrips that thingummy too.

I've tried it, not much of a fan really. Seems fizzy, empty and muddy all at once. Can really kick out though if needed. It's our current go to amp when we sit and play anything.

There are better options out there in my opinion.

We've got the DSL5C in at the mo, just recently out... I'd be more swayed by that although I haven't got around to trying it yet.

This, however, I'd have a good go on. Been for sale for ages, reckon it's worth a punt.

1974x is a superb amp !!

We just sold ours new/ex-display for £929 about a month back... been there for ages as well.

I thought it'd been mine at some point but the money never came.

Aren't they really loud, considering Thom was asking about a 5W amp, or am I mixing it up with the 1962?

Cheers guys. Think I will have to take a trip and try some out. Basically I just want something pretty quiet - might actually check out one of the 1W amps as that's switchable to 0.1W as well.

This is just pie in the sky stuff at the moment - all comments well and truly taken on board Tim, will probably change my mind when I next play the Princeton!
