How can you tell if a japanese jaguar body is genuine?

A friend is watching, what is listed as a, japanese jaguar on ebay. The neck is definitely japanese, but the body has been refined. Is there anyway to tell if it is definitely a japanese Fender body?

Will generally have a "JG66" or just a letter stamped in the neck pocket. Otherwise the pickguard shape and screw hole placement are slightly different to US Jags or aftermarket bodies.
Depends if it's MIJ or CIJ as well - what year is it?

If the neck stamp has been painted over the only way to likely know is the pickguard. If a VM Squier or AVRI doesn't match the holes, it is likely Japanese. :)

I think it's a CIJ Q reg, so 2002-2004.

This one? The body looks horrible and it's already up to £350. Yer mate would be best advised to steer clear. There seem to be some nice deals if you get one from the USA, so perhaps that's an option.

Went for £523.93. Ridiculous. There's lots of idiots around.

People were buying Twinkles for hundreds of dollars when they initially stopped being made.

Like nobody was ever going to make Twinkles again......

There was some moldy food I threw away last week. Would have kept it if I knew anyone wanted to invest.

However, I don't see the connection, that model is still being made.

But of course you can't buy another that's beat to hell, poorly refinished, AND includes a gigbag with dodgy zippers. Although I guess it also comes with the leads, strap and stand, probably not the bedsheets.

I can't view that at work, but it sounds like the same one. I believe you know my mate who was bidding on it, but he missed out anyway.

Did they refinish it with red crayola?
