I have a 76 MM with a black pickguard and metal control plate - love it -

but for a change I have thought about swapping in a white or other pickguard from the 60s.

Looking at vintage on the bay of e - befor I buy -

Question: Will it fit?

Maybe. Old pickguards have a tendency to warp, shrink, etc. I think you'd be just as well off buying a modern one.

I have no problem with modern but I think they stopped that style in 76 or 77 and it seems white or pearl that age is hard to find. Is there a good repro you know of? Thanks!

If you have the existing one you could take a tracing and get a luthier to cut one out of whatever material you want. Then you're guaranteed a perfect fit.

i've never had any problems and have done it a couple of times. just make sure the one you buy isn't obviously warped.

Your best bet is to take the one off on the guitar you have , stencil it and have one made .. And pay the extra money .. I for one have had waaaaaaaaay too many experiences of ordering precut guards , waiting weeks to get them and when they come in they don't fit and you're stuck with a bullshit useless pickguard you can't use ..
