Saw this locally on gumtree and thought it would jump on it for the price.

It's a Q series 2004 Fender Competition mustang in candy apple red. Not much to say other than it feels similar to my 66 reissue, although this is contoured and the 66 isn't. The pickups aren't bad but are exactly what I expected from these 68 reissues.

The volume pot is snapped and the guy who sold it just sneakily used blu-tac to keep it in place so it's something I didn't notice when inspecting the guitar (and he wasn't exactly forthcoming with the info).

The guitar was coated in a layer of absolute filth when I got it and it seems that someone has cleaned the fretboard with the abrasive side of a dish sponge. You can't feel the scratches but they're quite noticeable in the light.

Either way though I'm really happy with how it plays and sounds. I've set up the trem so it's at the most tension and stuck a set off 11s on it and yeah, it plays great, I just wish it had a matching headstock :)

Only got the one pic at the moment :

Yeah it's very comparable to any other 69 reissue. No matching headstock on this though :(

The weight of the 69 reissues is amazing - mustangs are already small and light and with the contours.... mmmmm 8)

The contoured ones are my favorite. Congrats!

Nice guitar. I think my pickups original gave only 3.00 ohm. Dont know if thats normal?

Now it has billy corgan bridge and neck humbuckers. With 500 ohm vol and tone potentiometers. I rocks.

Last 69 reissue pickups I did a test on read about 5-5.5 each. They're not low output, just not the best sounding. I think they're essentially MIJ Strat pickups with mustang covers. The ones in the newer 65 RI are a lot better and sound a lot more like the mustang pickups of old.

Any chance you could post some close up of your switches? If you can be arsed doing it with the guard off, I'd really appreciate it, if not, just a close up of the guard around tha area would be great.

Thanks man, can see the gold-like colour through the scratch plate holes. More than likely the same as mine but different to the ones they use now. Lovely guitar too ;)

First i used some other dimarzios and it was naaaaaw. Then i thought of these because my corgan strat has them and it sounds great.
