Been listening to a fair bit of Pink Floyd lately and am considering getting a lap steel for a bit of ambient slide ala the great gig in the sky, or some of the work Gilmour did on the Orb record he guested on. Anybody here already doing this? Harley Benton do one for £60 delivered, gets good reviews.

needs Tele knobs and a robroe pickup cover.

Different sound because of the scale length. I'd love one - keep meaning to grab one - Amazon used to do a nice cheapy too.

i can only play slide if it's on my knees ala lap steel. my strat's action is just enough to do both slide and normal without getting crazy. think i was coping floyd slide parts at 4 in the morning at progfest.

Slide is fun.
I have trouble playong it on my lap. I prefer holding it like normal.

Like Prog I can only play slide with my guitar on my lap but it's a bit cumbersome, any time I've tried to pay standing up it sounds like a rattling mess.

It has arrived, and is a lovely looking thing... The stock strings are rubbish (9s I think) way to light have a heavier set on the way... I'll post some pics later

Here's a quick phone pic. Haven't got the new strings on it yet, have ordered a new slide bar as the round bar that came with it is difficult to keep hold of. Got it tuned to open E so as not to confuse myself, decided to wait on the new tone bar before I try and learn how to play it properly... A lot of fun for £60.
